Since the launch of La Bandiera olive oil in 2010, we have exhibited at a variety of fine food fairs in the United Kingdom. This exposure has given us a wonderful opportunity to make many new friends and contacts, not to mention the invaluable feedback we have received from consumers about our olive oil. Fortunately the feedback was overwhelmingly positive and very encouraging to a fledgling business such as ours.

La Bandiera olive oil won a gold in the 2011 Great Taste Awards.  We were absolutely delighted with this award as it will help to differentiate our product from the many olive oils on the market.  The awards, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, are the largest and most prestigious food awards held internationally.  They are regarded as the “Oscars” of the fine food industry and the logo is the sign that you can trust when making your purchasing decisions.

In September 2011, we exhibited at the Speciality & Fine Food Fair for the second time and although the current economic climate has squeezed budgets and halted the development plans of some brands, we quickly realised that there is still a strong demand for premium products particularly if the producer is enthusiastic and truly dedicated.

Harvest

October and November were busy months for us as we worked on the harvest. Despite rumours that the olives have suffered in Tuscany this year due to the early frosts, at La Bandiera we are happy to report that our trees were groaning with fat, juicy olives and we had another bumper crop.

As soon as we finished the bottling and packaging for the new harvest, we were back at Olympia for the MasterChef Live show.  This is always a great event for us and we love all those captured foodies who enjoy tasting our oil and sharing their stories of wonderful holidays in Tuscany and thoughts on what makes a good olive oil.
